Master’s degree in what discipline?
Many of the professional academic associations have websites where they list, among other things, degree programs that can be pursued online (or mostly online with short on-campus residencies). Hunt yours down!
In general, yes the usual online colleges are perceived as cheesy and low-quality; often that’s unwarranted, but it’s true and a degree from one of them will be less advantageous in the eyes of an employer.
An exception to that might be if you’re going into a computer-related field and you earn the degree, say, from Nova, which has been doing distance learning in computers for decades and has a nice reputation.
Another option is for you to go to the websites of traditional colleges and universities and look up their online degree programs. I’d look at the public universities in the state where I live–those will have the advantages of not only the traditional brick-and-mortar credibility, but also lower in-state tuition.

Try looking at eLearners.com. (I’ll list some useful links of theirs in the resource section.) They are a great site and actually contain content and other relevant information about online schools, different programs and general distance education tips and information. So, they’re not just a bunch of links and ads, which is useful to someone looking to inform themselves.
Keep in mind, that some schools don’t offer distance education to people out of the country (USA.) It’s just something to remember when you’re searching for a school.
I looked on their site for social science. (That link is in the references section.) Also, you must remember to make sure that whatever school you attend is accredited. It makes a big difference and there are lots of places out there that will try to sell you fake degrees!

In trying to recommend sites, I hope I don’t violate the terms of sevice agreement here, but degreeinfo, degreediscussion, and e-learners seem to be reasonably good distance learning discussion boards with knowledgeable people who can help you find the degree programs you’re looking for.
You might also try to narrow down even further which of the social sciences you are interested in. Economics? Geography? History? Philosophy? Political Science? Psychology? Sociology? Social Science Education?
